Obituary of Thomas Walutes

Thomas L. Walutes, Sr., 68, of Tobyhanna, died on Monday, April 28, 2014 at his home. He was the loving husband of Kathryn (Zurla) Walutes to whom he had been married for 50 years. Born in Wyoming, he was the son of the late Leonard and Margaret (Pisano) Walutes. He was a graduate of Scranton Prep and the University of Scranton where he earned his Master's Degree. Thomas worked for Hallmark Cards for 15 years before owning his own Hallmark store in Parsippany, N.J. He lived in the Poconos for the last 28 years and was of the Catholic faith. In addition to his wife, Kathryn, he is survived by his sons: Thomas L. Walutes, Jr. of Tobyhanna and Leonard J. Walutes of Pocono Summit; daughter: Kathy M. Walutes of Tobyhanna; grandchildren: Jennifer, Jessica and Tommy. There will be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 2 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father Paul Fontanella will conduct a blessing service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
