Obituary of Doris Westrack

Doris K. Westrack, 86, of Mount Pocono, died on Monday, May 19, 2014 at home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of James J. Westrack to whom she would have celebrated 65 years of marriage with on May 29. Born in Glendale, NY she was the daughter of the late Hans and Juliana (Rockenfeller) Sollner. Doris was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in Manhattan. After graduation she took on the greatest role of her life as a loving wife, mother and Nana to her granddaughter. Doris and her husband, Jim, moved from New York and set roots in the Pocono Mountains in 1957. She adored her family and loved spending as much time as she could with them. She was also an avid reader, loved gardening and enjoyed good conversation over coffee with family and friends. Doris was very proud of her German heritage. She was also a member of the Mount Pocono United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, Jim, she is survived by her daughter: Jill A. Finnerty of Clarks Summit; her son: Gary Westrack and his companion Ellen Rivera of Swiftwater; and her granddaughter: Julianne Finnerty of Clarks Summit. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother: John Sollner. The family of Doris would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the compassion shown by Elizabeth Morgan, who works with Griswold Home Care and was her caregiver for the last month of her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Doris may be sent to the Mount Pocono United Methodist Church, 12 Church Ave., Mount Pocono, PA 18344 or to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, www.komennepa.org. Private cremation is entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home crematory with a memorial service to be announced in the future.
