Obituary of Catherine Newman

Catherine E. Newman, 86, of Tobyhanna, died Thursday, April 14 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township. She was the wife of Louis F. Newman. Born in New York, New York in 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Bessie (Loghren) Loughlin. Catherine had been a resident of the Poconos since 1977. She was a member of St. Ann's Church in Tobyhanna. In addition to her husband, Louis, she is survived by two sisters, "Betty" Elizabeth Cirner of Toms River, NJ and Mary Everdell of Woodside, NY; two nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael. There will be a viewing on Monday, April 18 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home in Cresco. The Reverend Father Joseph Kopacz will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19 at St. Ann's Church in Tobyhanna. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Ann's Church, c/o St. Mary of the Mount, 27 Fairview Avenue, Mt. Pocono, Pa. 18344
