Obituary of Andrea Bunbury
Andrea Carol Bunbury, 70, of Canadensis, died on Monday, July 28th, 2014 at her home.
Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Beatrice Bunbury.
Andrea began her higher education at Oberlin College & Conservatory in Oberlin, OH, before attending Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park, NJ, where she received both a Bachelor's degree in Geology and a Master's in Mathematics. She earned a degree from The New York Restaurant School before opening Babette's, a restaurant on the lower east side of Manhattan. Finally, she earned a Master's in Education at Pace University in New York City.
Her friends and family will remember her as a loyal and generous friend, an excellent cook and host, and an ebullient celebrant of all of life's events. Andrea worked for much of her professional life as a systems analyst, but was also a devoted consumer, practitioner, and supporter of arts and education. Among her many interests, talents, and vocations, she was a chef de cuisine, a composer, a geologist, a choral director and singer (most recently for the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Poconos), a math professor, and a master builder and designer. She was a fervent lifelong champion of gay rights, and a founding member of Pocono Action Lambda Society (PALS).
She is survived by: her sister Pamela Benning and her husband Mike; her niece Amanda MacLean; her nephew Jeremy Broomfield, his wife Bridget, and their daughter Tesla; numerous cousins of varying degree and removal; and by a vast community of close friends, both local and far away. She was loved by all and will be sorely missed.
Private cremation has been entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home. A memorial service that will be held at a later date.
