Obituary of Maryann Miller
Maryann Miller, 83, of Cresco, died Sunday, August 31, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Warren "Mickey" Miller, to whom she had been married for 61 years.
Maryann was born in Cresco, the daughter of the late Paul and Amanda (Price) Schaarschmidt. She was a graduate of Barrett High School and received her Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University. With the exception of the time she spent at Syracuse University, Maryann resided in Cresco.
She grew up in the family business, Theo B. Price General Store and Building Materials, which she continued to own and operate with her husband Mickey. If she wasn't at the Lumber Yard, Maryann could be found teaching over three generations of piano students, or in one of a number of community organizations and activities. Maryann's dedication to the community was acknowledged when she was awarded Citizen of the Year in Barrett Township.
Maryann was a lifelong member of the Mountainhome United Methodist Church, where she was the organist for the Mountainhome United Methodist Church for over 60 years. At the church, Maryann taught Sunday School, participated in various boards, and for 55 years ran the annual Antique Show. Additionally she was a long time member of the Board of Directors of the Parkside Chapel, in Henryville.
Maryann loved the library and helped it to grow. She was an original trustee of the Barrett Friendly Library and continued as a Board member when the library became the Barrett-Paradise Friendly Library.
She was an avid student of local history, a lover of local antiques, a founding member of the Barrett Township Historical Society and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved handwork, and was a founding member of the Embroidery Guild of America.Each year Maryann and Mickey traveled and explored the world.
In addition to her husband Mickey, she is survived by a daughter, Pamela Miller and her husband Ira Weinberg of Hoboken, NJ, and two grandsons: Daniel Weinberg of Jersey City, NJ, and Theodore Weinberg of Hoboken, NJ.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, September 3, from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Bolock Funeral Home 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Jon Keretzman will conduct a funeral service on Thursday, September 4 at 11:00am at Mountainhome United Methodist Church, 6680 Route 191, Mountainhome, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mountainhome United Methodist Church.
