Obituary of Helen Mazurik

Helen "Zimmy" May Mazurik, 93, of Cresco, passed away on Sunday, September 14 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township. She was the wife of the late George Mazurik, who died in 1996. Born in Butztown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lester M. Zimmerman and Laura (Uhler) Frey. She attended the Salvation Army College and was an active lifelong supporter of the Salvation Army. Before retiring, Helen worked as a Dining Room Captain at the Buck Hill Inn. She also enjoyed making all kinds of crafts in her leisure. She is survived by a brother, Harold Frey of Bethlehem; four step-daughters, Joyce Barna of South Sterling, Stella Updegraff of Centre Hall, Judy Kilpatrick of Springtown, and Kathy Stuart of Cresco; sister-in-law, Sophie Zimmerman of Macungie; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, especially Sharon Kuhn and her husband, Don of Cresco and Shirley "Betsy" Frey of Hellertown. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Willard Zimmerman, Lester Zimmerman, Sr., Granville Frey, Howard Frey, Harry Frey, one sister, Mildred Frey; and a grandchild. The Reverend George Alt will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18 at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. Interment will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery in Moscow. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
