Obituary of Joyce Taylor

Joyce Marie (Randall) Taylor, 76, of Mountainhome, died Monday, May 2 at home. She was the wife of the late Donald William Taylor. Born on February 1, 1935 in Cranston, RI, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Florence Mercier. Joyce was an active member of her community. She volunteered with Family Promise and C.A.M.E., was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Shepherds of Monroe County, was a member of the Red Hat Society and was active in the Mountainhome United Methodist Church. She recently retired from the Mountainhome post office after 15 years of service. Joyce loved to travel, garden, knit and be entertained by her grandchildren. She is survived by her three sons: Gary C. James of West Warwick, RI, Brian S. James of Bayshore, NY, and David A. James of Brentwood, TN; three daughters: Kimberly A. Santamaria of Canadensis, Mary Ann Ressler of Manheim and Rev. Dawn E. Taylor-Storm of Wayne; two sisters: Dorothy E. Gallagher and Phyllis D. Noke both of Greenville, RI and her sister-in-law: Viola E. Knapp of Cranston, RI. Joyce is also survived by 14 wonderful grandchildren and two great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law: David Haden, sister-in-law: Olive Knapp and brother-in-law: John L. Noke. Joyce would like to thank the members of Mountainhome United Methodist Church for their love and support. She would also like to thank the wonderful staff at the Dale and Francis Hughes Cancer Center and the VNA Hospice of Monroe County for their excellent care. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, May 4 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, Route 940 in Cresco. Rev. Barbara Housley will conduct a funeral service on Thursday, May 5 at 11:30 am at the Mountainhome United Methodist Church, Route 390 in Mountainhome. Interment will take place on Friday, May 6 at 1:00 pm in the Highland Memorial Park in Johnston, RI.
