Obituary of Della Johnson

Della Roberta Johnson, 91, of Mountainhome, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the VNA Hospice House of Monroe County in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Elwood E. Johnson, Sr. Born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Edward S. and Hattie (Long) Javins. Before her retirement, Della was employed as a waitress at various Pocono restaurants and resorts, including Uguccioni's, where she worked for many years, Onawa Lodge, The Woodside, and Paradise Stream. She was a member of the Mountainhome United Methodist Church, where she also belonged to the Craft Circle. In addition, she was a member of the Harvesters and the Barrett Township Ambulance Auxiliary. She is survived by three sons, Clyde R. Phillips of Atlanta, GA, Elwood E. "Woody" Johnson, Jr. and Robert A.M. Johnson, both of Mountainhome; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Miller. The Reverend Barbara Housley will conduct a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31 at the Mountainhome United Methodist Church. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Cremation services were provided by the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mountainhome United Methodist Church, PO Box 5, Mountainhome, Pa. 18342 or to the VNA Hospice House of Monroe County, 502 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, Pa 18301.
