Obituary of Joseph Angelitis

Joseph R. Angelitis, 67, of Pocono Lake, died Saturday, May 12 at Community Medical Center in Scranton as the result of a motor vehicle accident on Thornhurst Road in Bear Creek. He was the husband of Ellen (Auman) Angelitis. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Florence (Lukomski) Angelitis. Before his retirement, Joseph was a facilities manager for the Geisinger Medical Group in Wilkes-Barre and Mt. Pocono respectively. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the Sons of the American Legion in Pocono Pines. Joseph competed in numerous shooting competitions in the area. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved boating, fishing, and hunting. He also was an accomplished leather worker who designed and made his own holsters and belts. In addition to his wife, Ellen, he is survived by two sons, Joseph R. Angelitis, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Lehigh Valley, Keith E. Angelitis and his wife Elga Lyle of Philadelphia; a brother, Michael Angelitis, his wife Margaret and family of Bristol; two grandchildren, Julia N. and Robert J. Angelitis, both of Lehigh Valley; two brothers-in-law, Paul Auman, his wife Peg and family of Limerick; Brian Auman, his wife Madeline and family of Pickerington, OH; and sister-in-law, Nannette Davis, her husband, Harry and family of Chula Vista, CA. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, May 16 from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. The Reverend Father Peter Burkaukas will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 18 at St. Casimir's Church, 324 Wharton Street, Philadelphia. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon.
