Obituary of John Haeussler
John C. Haeussler, 80, of Scotrun, died Tuesday, July 12 at home. He was the husband of Anne (Bogutzki) Haeussler, to whom he was married for 52 years.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late John E. and Bertha (Forthmuller) Haeussler.
John was a graduate of the New York State Maritime Academy at Fort Schuyler and New York University, where he received his B.S. in Accounting. He worked for many years in the Maritime Industry in New York City and San Juan, Puerto Rico. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Upon his retirement, he was employed at Steele's Hardware in Tannersville for many years. He was active in the Crescent Lake Property Owners Association, where he served on the Board of Directors and held the offices of President and Treasurer. He was Past President the SUNY Maritime College Alumni Association, where he was also very active. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Jazz Society as well as a member of the Penn State Football Blue and White Club. John was an avid golfer who authored a hole-in-one during his golfing career.
In addition to his wife, Anne, he is survived by two sons, John Haeussler of Mt. Pocono, Charles Haeussler of Brooklyn, NY; two daughters, Joanne Ward of Scotrun and Margaretha Clarry Haeussler of Glen Ridge, New Jersey; and three grandchildren, Meaghan, Ian, and Sean Clarry of Glen Ridge, New Jersey.
The Reverend Rudy DeRosa will conduct a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15 at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
