Obituary of Matthew Cuadra

Matthew Nelson Cuadra, 17, of Long Pond died unexpectedly on Friday morning, December 7 from injuries sustained as a result of a Motor Vehicle Accident. Born in Hoboken, NJ, he was the son of Nelson and Myra (Guerrero) Cuadra. Matthew was a senior at Pocono Mountain West High School, where he sang bass in the Show Choir and the Vocal Jazz Group and was a cast member of this years play. He also played on the Tennis team and was an honor student. Matthew was recently nominated as a candidate of National People to People and was planning to attend college in the fall of 2008 to study Criminal Justice. During the summer, Matthew worked as a lifeguard at the pool at Emerald Lakes Association. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Pocono Pines. In addition to his parents, Matthew is survived by two brothers: Brandon and Bryan Cuadra, both of Long Pond; maternal grandparents: Frank Guerrero of the Dominican Republic and Emma I. Villanueua of Puerto Rico; paternal grandparents: Julio M. Cuadra and Esther E. Cuadra Ubilla of Ecuador; Great-Grandmother: Estebania Batista of the Dominican Republic. There will be a viewing on Sunday, December 9 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 and 390, Paradise Valley. The Reverend Father John Boyle will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Pocono Pines. Interment will follow in Stroudsburg Cemetery.
