Obituary of Alistair M. Stewart

Alistair M. Stewart, of Pocono Pines, PA, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2008 at the Hospice Care of the VNA at Heritage House in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was 77. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Alistair was the son of the late John and Jesse (Forbes) Stewart. Prior to retirement, Alistair resided in both Princeton and West Windsor, NJ. Alistair was the owner of Stewart Builders, Inc. specializing in residential remodeling and construction. He was a 30 year member of Princeton Hook and Ladder Fire Company and served as Chief of the Princeton Fire Department in 1972. He was a member of the Pocono Lions Club and enjoyed skiing, sailing, camping, and playing golf. Alistair also spent many years collecting early American antique furniture which were his prized possessions. In addition to his wife, Marjorie, Alistair is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Mitchell and her husband Louis of Cranbury, NJ; a son, John Stewart and his wife Anita of Washington Crossing, PA; two sisters, Isobel McCullam and her husband Robert (deceased) of Tinton Falls, NJ and Thea Stewart and her husband Benjamin of Forked River, NJ; three grandchildren, Laura and Lindsey Warne and Michael Stewart; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the First Presbyterian Church, 22 South Main Street, Cranbury, NJ on June 21 at 10:00 a.m. Service will be conducted by Alistair's son-in-law, Dr. Louis J. Mitchell, Senior Pastor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Care of the VNA at Heritage House, 80 East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
