Obituary of Joanne Shaller

Joanne L. Shaller, 75, of Mountainhome, died Sunday, June 8 at VNA Hospice House of Monroe County in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Gordon Shaller. Born in Hatboro, Pa., she was the daughter of Edgar and Florence (Ramsey) Lythgoe. Before her retirement, Joanne was a Physical Education and Health teacher for the Pocono Mountain Schools. She taught for 23 years at Barrett Elementary School. She was an active member of the Mountainhome United Methodist Church. Joanne also volunteered her time at the Senior Center of Barrett, where she directed exercise classes for 15 years. She was an avid tennis player, loved winter sports, and especially loved to travel. In addition to her loving husband Gordon of 53 years, she is survived by a son, Brian Shaller and his wife Jean of New Ringgold; a daughter, Karen Shaller of Arlington, VA; a brother, James Lythgoe and his wife Kathleen of Wichita, KS; a cousin, Charlotte Sheehan and her husband, David of West Grove; and three grandchildren. The Reverend Barbara Housley will conduct a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14 at the Mountainhome United Methodist Church in Mountainhome. Cremation services were entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
