Obituary of Albert Storm
Albert M. Storm, 88, of Paradise Township, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. He was the husband of the late Leona M. (Fish) Storm with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage on September 20, 2009. Albert lost Leona in February 2010 to a short battle with lung cancer, leaving him with a broken heart.
Born in Scranton on March 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Otto and Johanna (Jenkins) Storm. Albert attended the Pocono Township School in Tannersville, lettering in both baseball and basketball.
He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Barger Lodge #325 F&AM.
Albert was a builder by trade who worked for Harold E. Heydt for many years before owning his own contracting firm, Albert M. Storm, Inc. from 1971 through 1985. His firm built the Barrett Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps building in 1972, the Central Pocono Ambulance Association building in 1977, and also donated labor and materials for the Harold A. Tattersall Medical Building in Mountainhome.
Albert, Leona, and their sons were avid hunters, never missing a deer season. Oh, the stories they told and the venison they ate! Albert was also an avid golfer, winning a flight championship at Mountain Manor Golf Club in 1972. In 1982 while visiting Jekyll Island, Georgia, he scored a hole-in-one on the Pine Lakes Course.
He is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Smith and her husband, Clark of Cresco; a son, Horace and his wife, Barbara of Chincoteague Island, VA; a daughter-in-law, Jane Storm of Brunswick, GA; five grandchildren, Tami Binder and her husband, Shane of Scotrun, Colleen Ayers and her husband, Wayne, of Fort Worth, TX, Jody Perry of Chincoteague, VA, Chad Storm and his wife Michelle of Nevada, Karen Holcomb and her husband, Tony of Brunswick, GA; and 11 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Horace W. in 1976, a son, Robert in 2004, and a great-granddaughter, Cassidy Binder in 2001.
A joint memorial service for Albert and Leona will be conducted by Reverend Peggy Sue Pfeffer on Sunday, May 22 at 3:00 pm at the Bolock Funeral Home in Cresco. Relatives and friends may visit from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at the funeral home. There will be a private interment by the family at a later time. Private cremation took place at the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
