Obituary of Ruth Barry

Ruth T. (Sullivan) Barry, 80 of Tobyhanna, Pa formerly of Bradenton, Fla. and Watertown, Ma. died at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, Pa. on March 17, 2006 after a brief illness. She was the widow of John R. Barry, who died in 2002. Born on February 28, 1926 in Somerset, Ma to Charles A. and Leona (Charrette) Sullivan, she attended school and spent her childhood in Stillwater and Georgiaville, R. I. and later resided in North Providence, R. I. before relocating in 1965 to Watertown, Ma. Ruth worked in a number of retail stores in the Boston area before retiring. However, she considered her greatest achievement in life her family and was the proud mother of six children. She was survived by five children, John Barry of Brewster, Ma, William Barry of Woonsocket, RI, Linda Forand of Mt. Pocono, Pa., Richard Barry of Belchertown, Ma. and Jacqueline Swerling of Wellesley, Ma. She was also survived one sister, Marion Latour, 17 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Ruth was predeceased by her daughter, Suzanne Fortescue in 2005. The Reverend Father Ronald Hughes will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Monday, March 20 at the Church of St. Ann in Tobyhanna. Entombment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow. Viewing will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
