Obituary of Morris Czerniak

Morris Czerniak, 95, of Pocono Lake, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the VNA Hospice House of Monroe County in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Gertrude R. (Commer) Czerniak, who passed away in February 2007. Born in New York, New York, he was the son of the late Maxim and Rose (Hershkorn) Czerniak. Before his retirement, Morris was employed as a Ship Captain. He was one of the founding members of the National Maritime Union and a member of the Masters Mates and Pilots Union. He was a Lieutenant Commander in the Merchant Marines who served in three wars, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He is survived by a son, Larry Czerniak of Pocono Lake; a daughter, Linda Gambino and her husband, Joseph of Pocono Lake; one grandson, David Parisi and his wife Lauren of Pocono Lake; three great grandchildren, Lyntasha Neigel, Nicole Parisi, Sabrina Parisi, all of Pocono Lake; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 2 at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. Interment and military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
