Obituary of Gloria Ruth Scalamandre

Gloria Ruth Scalamandre, 73, of Mt. Pocono, passed away on Monday, May 12 at Pocono Medical Center. She was the wife of John Scalamandre. Born in Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ruth (Pomerenke) Petke. Before raising her family, Gloria was employed as an executive secretary for Eastern Airlines. She also worked as a committee chair person for the Board of Elections at Valley Stream, Long Island, New York. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Mt. Pocono. In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by three daughters, Ruth Polguy and her husband, Edward of Pocono Pines, Susan Scales and her husband, James of Lancaster, Christine Wright and her husband, James of Weston, Florida; a brother, Edward Petke and his wife, Cathie of Bohema, New York; a sister, Carole Prummell and her husband, Harold of Carl Place, New York; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Jonathan Polguy of Pocono Pines, Heather and Timothy Scales of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews. The Reverend Peter Richert will conduct a funeral service at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. Viewing hours will take place from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation is entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
