Obituary of Joseph Keuler

Joseph Frederick Keuler, 81, of Swiftwater, formerly of Franklin Square, Long Island, died at home on Saturday, March 17 surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on February 6, 1926 in Richmond Hill, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Ada (Frederick) Keuler. After leaving school at an early age to help support his family, he served in the United States Air Force as air controller and dispatcher and received an honorable discharge. Mr. Keuler worked for over 19 years as a manager at Sommers, Inc. in Stroudsburg, prior to that, as manager at Rome Knitting Mills in the Bronx, New York. Due to his great love of the ocean and fishing, while living in Franklin Square, NY, he was an active member of the Long Island Power Squadron, a boating organization. Surviving him is Elisabeth, his loving wife of 60+ years, he was the beloved father to son, Joseph Keuler and daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Keuler of Hilton Head Island, SC; daughter, Linda Malone and son-in-law, Thomas Malone of Purcellville, VA; step-grandson, Randy Villager of Fort Myers, FL; also surviving is a sister, Joan Philbin of East Islip, NY; a brother, Harold Keuler of Saylorsburg; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Jacob Keuler, Robert Keuler, and Richard Keuler. The Reverend Thomas Richards will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday, March 20 at 8:00 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. Relatives and friends may attend a viewing from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service. Cremation will follow the service at the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, Pa. 18301 or in memory of his love for animals to the Pennsylvania SPCA, RR Box 1237, Godfrey Drive, Stroudsburg, Pa. 18360
