Obituary of Lillian Peechatka

Lillian M. Peechatka, 92, of Camp Hill and formerly of Henryville, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 in Camp Hill. She was the wife of the late Walter C. Peechatka, who died in 1950. Born in Monroe County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Sophia (Young) Post. She graduated from Pocono High School in Tannersville and from East Stroudsburg State Teachers College (now East Stroudsburg University). She was a school teacher who taught for more than thirty years in several school districts in Monroe County, including many years in the Pocono Mountain School District, from which she retired. Before moving to the Camp Hill area eight years ago, she was active in the Pocono Singles Club, the Henryville Homemakers, and participated in Tannersville Lutheran Church Retirees and Pocono Mountain School District Retirees. An accomplished pianist and violinist, she enjoyed all kinds of music. She also enjoyed collecting and learning about antiques and painting. She is survived by a son; Walter N. Peechatka and his wife, Bonnie of Camp Hill; a daughter, Beverly Youngken of Huntsville, Alabama; a sister, Grace Bisbing of Reeders, two sisters-in-law, Genevieve Post of Mountainhome, Bernice Post of Arlington Heights, Illinois; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Post and William Post; and two sisters, Lucy Warner and Mary Jane Bisbing. The Reverend Laurie Charles Roberts will conduct a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 17 at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Swiftwater. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church, 901 6th Street, Harrisburg, Pa. 17102
