Obituary of John Greinwald
John Herman Greinwald, Sr., 78, of Analomink, died unexpectedly Monday, May 12 at St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Dolores (Donnelly) Greinwald.
Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late John and Thea (Ott) Greinwald. John retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service, where he attained the rank of Major. He served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. In the early 1960's, John was the Captain of the European Army Rifle and Pistol Team. He was a member of the VFW Thomas P. Lambert Post 2540 in East Stroudsburg and of the American Legion Givens-Belet Post 258 in Blairstown, NJ. John volunteered for the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program in Stroudsburg, transporting retired and elderly people to their various appointments. He attended Our Lady of Victory Church in Tannersville.
In addition to his wife Dolores, John is survived by one son: John H. Greinwald, Jr., M.D. who is the Associate Professor of Otolaryngology (ENT) at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital and the Director, Auditory Genetics Laboratory Ear and Hearing Center in Cincinnati, OH and his wife Karen of Cincinnati, OH; one sister: Gretchen Schlessinger of Kinnelon, N.J.; four grandchildren: Emily, Christian, Natalia, and Vladimir Greinwald of Cincinnati, OH; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Marianne and Heidi.
The Reverend Father Richard E. Czachor will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16 at Our Lady of Victory Church, Cherry Lane, Tannersville. Cremation was entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
