Obituary of Thornton Raney

Thornton Quin Raney, 84, of Cresco, died Saturday, June 2 at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Ann (Fitzpatrick) Raney. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Thornton and Louise (Dingle) Raney. He was raised in Skytop and attended the Blair Academy in Blairstown, NJ. Thornton was a pilot in the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II and Korea. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Mt. Pocono. In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by one son: Robert Raney and his wife Doreen of Durham, CT, four daughters: Bonnie O'Brien of Cresco, Kathryn Reed and her husband John of Esopus, NY, Sandra Braman and her husband Dave of Hebron, CT, and Terri Ryan and her husband Gib of Durham, CT; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, June 5 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 & 390, Paradise Valley. The Reverend Edward K. Erb will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday, June 5 at 7:30 PM at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Trinity Hill Road, Mt. Pocono. Burial with Military Honors will take place Wednesday, June 6 at 10:45 AM at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill.
