Obituary of Sarah Lee Sanders

Sarah Lee Sanders, 68, of Tobyhanna, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 1 at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of John H. Sanders, to whom she was married for 48 years. Born in Sumter, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Ingram and Loris (Budden) Montgomery. Sarah lived in the Poconos for nine years. She retired from her nursing career in New York after 23 years of service. In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by two sons, John Sanders III of New York and Vincent Sanders of Alabama; two daughters, Arlene Robinson of Alabama and Melissa Ivey of Scranton; three brothers, Stanley and Archie Montgomery of South Carolina, Horace Montgomery of Florida; two sisters, Susan Conyers of South Carolina and Julia Timmons of Florida; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter and Herbert Montgomery and three sisters, Loris Conyers, Easter Ballard, and Edith Peck. Pastor Robert Searcy will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9 at the Full Gospel Holiness Church of God in Christ, 169 Summit Avenue in Pocono Summit. Interment will follow at the Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg. There will be a viewing at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
