Obituary of Helen Roberts

Helen C. Roberts, 83, of Pocono Pines (formerly of Springfield Delaware County), passed away on March 18, 2008 at home. She was the wife of the late Kent L. Robert, who died in December of 2007. Born in Oak Park, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Edna (Anderson) Cuthbertson. After moving from Oak Park in 1940 she graduated from Lower Merion High School 1942. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from the University of Delaware in 1945.After graduating she was employed by Rohm and Haas Chemical Co. She married high school class mate Kent Roberts in 1950. She then dedicated her efforts to raising her family and running the household. After building their house in Lake Naomi in the early 1970's, Helen and her husband moved in full-time after his retirement. She continued to enjoy bowling and garden visits with new friends in Naomi Pines Bowling League and Pocono Mountain Garden Club when they moved to Pocono Pines while maintaining links to Springfield such as the Woman's Club (GFWC) through the 1990s. Helen added a gourmet cooking group and the Sullivan Trail Questers Club to her interests. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Roberts of Pocono Pines, Diane Hodgkiss and her husband, James of Phoenixville; two grandchildren, Kelsey and Gregory Hodgkiss; and several cousins. The Reverend Gary Meekins will conduct a Memorial Service at 11 am on Saturday April 12 2008 at Pocono Lake United Methodist Church, Route 940 in Pocono Lake.
