Obituary of Joseph King III

Joseph L. King III, 73, of Pocono Lake, Pa., formerly of Spring City ,Pa. and loving husband of Joan A. (Van Blunk) King of 53 years, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, Pa. on Sunday August 9th after a 2 year illness. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Joseph L. II and Catherine (Hague) King. Before his retirement, he was employed for 35 years with Public Finance Services. He was a member of VFW Post 3448, American Legion Post 0413 of Pocono Lake, Pa., who served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He was a respected active member of Locust Lake Village Community and a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Joe lived in the Pocono mountains and spent his last years there enjoying the beauty of the mountains and all the wildlife surrounding his home. His family and many cherished friends were the center of his life. In addition to his wife, Joan, he is survived by three children, a son, Joseph L. lV husband of Kimberly of Elverson; two daughters, Deborah Schaeffer wife of David of Pottstown, Dawn Klotz wife of Stephen of Pottstown; a sister, Kathleen Larson; six grandchildren, Casey wife of Dr. Patrick Colarusso of Mohnton, Zachary Schaeffer husband of Jenna of Wilmington, NC, Joseph L.V, Kyle, Stephen and Ryan; and two great granddaughters, Siena and Tarah; many loving nieces and nephews and a circle of devoted friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas King. Family and Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday, August 13th at Our Lady of the Lake on Route 940 Pocono Pines, Pa. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the church at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Please join his family in a celebration of his life at the Chalet in Locust Lakes Village, Pocono Lake PA following the Mass. The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to all his family and friends and especially to the staff at St. Joseph Cancer Center where he received devoted care.
