Obituary of Nora Meyung

Nora A. Meyung, 87, of Canadensis, died on Friday, October 16 at home. She was the wife of the late Leon J. Meyung, Jr. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marie (Callahan) Bergen. Nora and her husband were co-owners of Coffman-Meyung Color Labs in Paradise Valley. A veteran of the United States Navy, she served her country as a decoder during World War II. Nora was the first woman Lector at St. Bernadette's Church, where she was an active member. She was a Past President of the Barrett Community Club, volunteered for the Nearly New Shop and the Barrett Friendly Library and served on the Board of Directors of the Monroe County Mental Health Association. She was known in the community as the "pretty lady with all the hats". Nora will be greatly missed by her family and the many people whose lives she touched with her special ways. She is survived by a son, Eugene Meyung of Dania Beach, FL; two daughters, Rachael Meyung of Boynton Beach, FL, and Denise Mick and her husband, Richard of Canadensis; three grandchildren, Erica Sheloski, Ingrid Gravel, Morgan Mick; three great grandchildren, Taylor and Ethan Gravel, and Parker Sheloski. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Bergen and two sisters, Geraldine Marra and Lucille Ferra. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, October 21 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. The Reverend Father Edward Michelini will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22 at St. Bernadette's Church in Canadensis. Private cremation will follow at Bolock Funeral Home Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Barrett Ambulance Corps, PO Box 105, Cresco, Pa. 18326
