Obituary of Juan Vargas

Juan Vargas, Sr. 51, of Tobyhanna, died Thursday, September 25 at Asera Care Hospice at Mid Valley Hospital in Peckville. He was the husband of Liana (Echevarria) Vargas. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Juan and Luz (Arce) Vargas. Before his illness, Juan was a driver for the Monroe County Municipal Waste Authority. In addition to his wife, Liana, he is survived by a son, Juan Vargas, Jr. of Tobyhanna; three daughters, Damaris and Amanda Vargas of Tobyhanna, and Valerie Vargas of Arlington, TX; a brother, Roberto Vargas of Lord's Valley; three sisters, Elizabeth Rivera of Queens, NY, Ileana Rivera of Allentown, Elba Vargas of Puerto Rico; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing on Monday, September 29 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. The Reverend Father Richard Ghezzi will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, September 30 at 10:00 am at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Main Street, Tobyhanna. Cremation will follow at the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
