Obituary of Janaka Carl

Janaka Carl, 28, of Pocono Summit, died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 29 at home. He was the husband of Nicole (Monzo) Carl. Born in Bloomsburg, he was the son of Gerald and Mary Ann (Brady) Remick of Scotrun. A 1999 graduate of Pocono Mountain High School, Janaka attended Penn State University. He was employed as a manager at the WalMart Distribution Center in Tobyhanna for the past six years. He was an avid San Francisco 49's and Penn State University Football fan. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Bailey Carl of Pocono Summit; brothers, Prahlad Remick of California and Gerald Remick, Jr. of Scotrun; a sister, Tulsi Crowell and her husband, Joey of Arizona; brother-in-law, Robert Monzo and his wife, Mandi Monzo of Henryville; mother and father-in-law, Wanda and Robert Monzo of Henryville; grandmothers, Katherine Carl of Catawissa, Catherine Brady of Danville, Mable Remick of Bloomsburg; grandmothers-in-law, Donna Shipley of Totowa, NJ and Mary Monzo of Henryville; niece, Hanna Crowell, nephew, Noah Crowell; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. There will be a viewing on Thursday, April 2 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. The Reverend Father Richard Czachor will conduct a Blessing Service at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Private cremation will take place at the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory. Memorial donations may be made to the family for an educational fund for his daughter, Bailey.
