Obituary of William Hines

William Christopher Hines, 74, of Tobyhanna, died Tuesday, June 28 at home. He was the husband of Doris (Fruchter) Hines. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Irene (Ridley)Hines. While growing up, William's mother had polio and he took on the responsibility of caring for his siblings and doing the household chores. He was a current member of the American Legion Post #945 in Tobyhanna and was a past member of the Lions Club. William served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of St. Mary of the Mount Church in Mt. Pocono. In addition to his wife Doris, William is survived by his three daughters: Maryann Bence and her husband Bob, Kelly Diaz and her husband Gilbert and Stacey Hines; his sister: Maryann Schoenfeld; his step-children: Michele Ferro Larmine, Scot Kossilto and Julie Keatz; his grandchildren: Kayleen Murphy, Kevin Roca, and Robert Bence, Kelianne & Maryanne Wiggins, Gilbert & Thomas Diaz; his step-grandchildren: Danielle and Carmine Ferro, Mary, Scott, Phillip, Lilly, Isabella and Lucia Rossillo, Emily and Olivia Ruiz, ; his great-grandchildren: Erin and Emily Murphy, Gabriel and Alexa Roca. There will be a viewing on Friday, July 1 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, route 940 in Cresco. Reverend Father Joseph Kopacz will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 2 at 9:00 am at St. Mary of the Mount Church, 27 Fairview Ave. in Mt. Pocono. Interment will follow at 12:15 pm in Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island, NY.
