Obituary of Eugene Gartner

Eugene "Gene" Gartner, 75, of Pocono Summit, died Friday, February 17 at Community Medical Center Hospice in Scranton. He was the husband of Joan (McCarthy) Gartner. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Charles and Helen (McGarry) Gartner. He graduated from Rutgers University. He was a retired accountant who moved permanently to the area several years ago. A father of seven children, he coached Little League for many years in the Ridgefield Park area. He was a New York Giants fan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their seven children, Eugene Gartner and his wife, Ann of Madison County, VA, Gerard Gartner and his fiance Debra of Flanders, NJ, Robert Gartner and his wife Trish of Hackensack, NJ, Richard Gartner of Hackensack, NJ, Peter Gartner and his wife, Leslie of Middlesex, NJ, Susan Avallone and her husband, Charles of Hackensack, NJ, Denise Gartner of Hackensack, NJ; six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing from 2: 00 to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20 at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. An additional viewing will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21 at the Vorhees Funeral Home, 59 Main Street in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday morning at the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. Interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
