Obituary of Mildred Oney

Mildred Ann Oney, 68, of Mt. Pocono, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. She was the beloved wife of Gerald Oney Sr. to whom she had been married for 53 years. Born in Elizabethtown, KY, she was the daughter of Evelyn ( Howey ) Collins of Louisville, KY and the late John Wesley Collins . Mildred was a homemaker who loved taking care of and supporting her family. She was very proud of her family, especially her grandson Eric, who is currently serving in Afghanistan with the United States Army. Mildred was always taking care of those around her and loved her family. In addition to her husband: Gerald, she is also survived by two daughters: Brenda L. Carey and her husband James of Mountainhome, Debra L. Strunk and her husband George K. of Paradise Valley, three sons: Gerald Oney Jr. and his wife Tammy of Port Jervis, NY, Gregory S. Oney and his wife Laura of Mt. Pocono, John S. Oney and his wife Jennifer Martin of Lakeland, FL, a sister: Nancy Bentley of Fort Worth TX, a brother: John Collins and his wife Lois of Moody, TX, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, July 26 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 & 390 in Cresco. Pastor David Crosby of Pocono Community Church will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Keokee Chapel Cemetery in Paradise Valley.
