Obituary of Grace Browning
Grace M. Browning, 83, of Canadensis, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township.
Born in Gouldsboro and raised in Scranton, , she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Fairless) Browning. Grace graduated from Scranton Technical School.
Grace was a long-time employee of Skytop Lodge, where she also lived before moving to Canadensis. During her 32 year employment from 1954 to 1986, she worked in the reservation office, the activity department, and was Tea Room Manager for 25 years.
She was an avid bird watcher and especially enjoyed feeding them. She loved trips to Atlantic City and the "Foxwoods" in Connecticut. Grace will be sadly missed by her dear friends, Eileen O'Toole and Joan Deering of Canadensis, with whom she resided.
In addition to Eileen and Joan, she is survived by a sister-in-law, Juanita Browning of Scranton; a niece, Antoinette Mackar and her husband, Peter of Peckville; and two great nephews, Peter and Lance, also of Peckville. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Browning.
The Reverend Gregg C. Schafer will conduct a Celebration of Life at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 7 at the Canadensis Moravian Church, Route 447 in Canadensis. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private cremation was entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
