Obituary of John Avallone

John Paul Avallone, 85, of Tobyhanna, Pa. died Saturday, November 19 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township, Pa. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Latocha) Avallone. Born in Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Anthony and Carmela (Depoto) Avallone. A retired bus driver, John was a member of the TWU (Trans Workers Union) in New York. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. John was a member of Saint Mary of the Mount Church, where he served as an usher. In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by a son, John Paul Avallone, Jr., of Champaign, IL; three daughters, Marie Veca of Yonkers, NY, Phyllis Caruso of Patterson, NY; Patricia Avallone of NY City; a brother, Rev. Paul P. Avallone, S.D.B. of Patterson, NJ; a sister, Mary Oropallo of Long Island, NY; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Avallone, and three sisters, Cecilia Ragusa, Theresa Morelli, and Philomina Sciscente. Monsignor Arthur Kaschenbach and Reverend Paul P. Avallone will con-celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23 at Saint Mary of the Mount Church in Mt. Pocono, Pa.. Interment will follow at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg, Pa. There will be a viewing from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22 at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley, Pa.
