Obituary of George Goetze
George F. Goetze, 75, of Pocono Lake, died Saturday, February 7 at Geisinger Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre. He was the husband of Anne (Fitzpatrick) Goetze, to whom he was married for 55 years.
Born in Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Theodore A. and Grace (Roth) Goetze.
He was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Pocono Pines. A United States Army veteran, George was a member of the American Legion Wilson-Fischer Post #413 in Pocono Lake.
In addition to his wife, Anne, he is survived by ten children; three sons, James E. Goetze of Knoxville, TN, John J. Goetze of Jacksonville, FL, Edward J. Goetze of Pocono Lake; seven daughters, Anne Marie Skelly of Mt. Holly, NJ, Patricia E. Maddalena of Pocono Lake, Mary E. DiBenedetto of Pocono Lake, Jane E. Diana of Wantagh, NY, Cathleen T. Opromollo of Pocono Lake, Maureen E. Stevens, NY, NY, Theresa E. Kelleher of Charlotte, NC; 28 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore A. Goetze, Jr.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday, February 10 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. The Reverend Father John Boyle will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11 at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Pocono Pines. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.
