Obituary of Thomas Neyhart
Thomas B. Neyhart, 79, of Cresco, died Saturday, February 21, at VNA Hospice House of Monroe County in Smithfield Twp. He was the husband of Ida (Renke) Neyhart.
Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Paul and Florence (Rowe) Neyhart. Thomas was employed in the Maintenance Department at the Pocono Mountain School District for 30 years and was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Swiftwater. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. and was very active in the following organizations: Barger Masonic Lodge # 325 in Stroudsburg, where he was the Past Master in 1988 and 1998; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Pocono Forest # 124, Bartonsville, where he was a past Grand Tall Cedar; Royal Arch Masons of Monroe County Chapter # 281, where he was a past high priest; Knights Templar Samuel S. Yohe Commanry # 81 of Stroudsburg, where he was the past commander; a member of the Valley of Allentown Scottish Rite; a member of the High Twelve Club International; a member of Gaspee Order # 99, Swords of Bunker Hill, Providence, R.I.; a member of the American Legion Wilson-Fischer Post No. 413 in Pocono Lake and the Rajah Shrine of Reading.
In addition to his wife Ida, Thomas is survived by three sons: Daniel Neyhart of Cresco, Daniel Vitanza of Arkansas, and Joseph Vitanza of Fredrick, MD; five daughters: Carlene Grindle of Newfoundland, Annetta Strazzeri of Lake Ariel, Deborah Terpak of Wilkes-Barre, Patricia Smith of Swiftwater and Melissa Neyhart of Fl; 17 Grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Keith B. Neyhart and his sister: Adeline Katie Kresge.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday February 25 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 and 390, Paradise Valley with a Masonic Service at 8:00 pm.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday. February 26 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery, Swiftwater.
