Obituary of Lonnie Carpenter

Lonnie "Sonny" Carpenter, Jr., 73, of Cresco, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 31 at home. He was the husband of Lorraine (Dalrymple) Carpenter to whom he was married for 52 years. Born in Dallas, Texas, he was the son of the late Lonnie Carpenter Sr. and Johnnie Lee (Lewis) Carpenter. Lonnie was a member of the Teamsters for over 40 years. He drove for Roadway Express for 28 years before his retirement. Lonnie served in the United States Coast Guard. In addition to his wife, Lorraine, he is survived by two sons, Mark Carpenter and his wife, Jennifer of Swiftwater, David Carpenter and his wife Cindy of Peru, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Jim Hadden of Vernon, CT; four grandchildren, Kristen Tara Carpenter of Port St. Lucy, FL, Brad Van Splinter of Swiftwater, Brandon and Adam Carpenter both of Peru NY; and several nieces and nephews. Private services and cremation are entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory in Paradise Valley.
