Obituary of Michael McGuire

Michael McGuire, 63, of Pocono Summit, died on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at home. He was the husband of Ann (Albert) McGuire. Born in Greenock, Scotland, he was the son of Rose (Derrick) of Scotland and the late Michael McGuire. Michael was educated in Scotland and immigrated with his family to the United State in 1961. He furthered his education at Middleton NJ High School, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Ann. Before his retirement, he was a New Jersey Transit Railway Inspector. He was a decorated United States Marine veteran who served in the Vietnam War and a member of the VFW. His passions included his family and friends, whom he enjoyed spending time with and toasting the sunset at Pocono Summit Lake. Michael loved singing and was a member of the choral singers of Hernando, Florida, where he spent his time as a snow bird. He was also a retired lead vocalist of the group, "Scotland Yard" of New Jersey. In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by a son, Michael McGuire III of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Marie Chinese of Toms River, NJ, Isabelle Berth and her husband, John of Middletown, NJ; two brothers, Andrew McGuire and his wife, Debra of Middletown, NJ, Edward McGuire of Middletown, NJ; brother-in-law, Harry Albert of Toms Rivers, NJ and three grandchildren, Emily Ann, Daniel B, and Michael McGuire IV, all of Richmond, VA. Michael has a huge "clan" of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, of which he is considered "Chief of the McGuire Clan." In addition to his father, Michael was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Patrick McGuire in 1993. There will be a visitation on Sunday, August 9 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. Father John Boyle will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Pocono Pines. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Fair View Cemetery, 456 Highway 35 in Red Bank, New Jersey.
