Obituary of James Hargraves

James Robert Hargraves, Sr.,84, of Long Pond, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in Waterbury Connecticut. He was the husband of the late Irene D. (Gutowski) Hargraves, who passed away in 1985. Born in Schenectady, New York, he was the son of the late Harold and Verna May (Chadwick) Hargraves. James graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he was a member of Sigma XI Honor Society. Before his retirement, he was employed in sales by General Electric. He was a member of St. Mary of the Mount Church in Mt. Pocono and served on the Church Planning Committee. He also served as Vice-President on the Board of Directors of Emerald Lakes Homeowner's Association. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the American Legion. He is survived by two sons, Peter James Hargraves of Baltimore, MD and James Robert Hargraves, Jr. of Bethel, CT; a sister, Marjorie E. Thomas of Ballston Spa, NY; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Edward Hargraves II, and a sister Marilyn L. Furlani of Schenectady, NY. There will be a viewing from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 23 at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 6:00 p.m. at St. Mary of the Mount Church in Mt. Pocono, Pa. Interment will take place on Saturday, March 24 at Memory's Garden in Albany, New York.
