Obituary of Mildred Barnes
Mildred "Igg" K. Barnes, 76, of Reeders, died Wednesday, September 7 at Lehigh Valley Hospital. She was the wife of Byron Barnes.
Born in Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Theodore P. and Mary (Getz) Sebring.
She was a member of the Cherry Lane United Methodist Church and worked as a Red Cross Volunteer. She was very active in her hobbies, which included ceramics, working with stained glass, and tole painting. In the 1940's, she played semi-pro softball.
In addition to her husband, Byron, she is survived by a son, Neil Barnes and his wife Linda Crowe of Williamsburg, Virginia; two daughters, Helen Barnes and her companion, Jeannie de Grasse of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, James C. Sebring of East Stroudsburg, David L. Sebring of Virginia; three sisters, Audrey Martin Seigfried of Reeders, Pauline Snyder of Reeders, and Eleanore "Toot" Counterman of East Stroudsburg; two grandchildren, Vicky and Shila Barnes of Williamsburg, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer "Sam" Sebring and Theodore J. Sebring. The Reverend Christopher Schiavino will conduct a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11 at the Cherry Lane United Methodist Church. There will be a calling hour at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Cremation service entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home, routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley.
