Obituary of Louis Donald Russell
Louis Donald Russell, 79, of Mountainhome, died Friday, June 29, 2007 at the VNA Hospice House in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Frances B. (McCartney) Russell.
Known as Don or Donald to his friends and family, he was born in Millbury, Ohio to Louis F. and Viola (Gross) Russell. He had been a resident of Mountainhome since 1963, where he served on the Barrett Friendly Library Board as Treasurer for 20 years. He also served on the Barrett and Monroe County YMCA Boards and was active with the Rotary, various Christian membership groups, and the Gideons.
While his children were in high school, Don took pride in serving as President of the Pocono Mountain Band Boosters during which time the band made their first trip to Disney World.
As President of the Harvesters, he had fun planning mystery trips to the local sites and the Catskills. He loved to dance, hike and spend time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Fran, he is survived by a son, Gary D. Russell of Tunkhannock; three daughters, Kathleen Russell of Ann Arbor, MI, Rebecca Hess of Lancaster, Connie Reichart of Barto; one brother, George Russell of Luckey, OH; two sisters, Florence Klinepeter of Lunarpier, MI, Verla Albring of Brittain, MI; ten grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and David Russell and two sisters, Ruth Jacobs and Eleanor Knerr.
The Reverend Timothy Bertolet will conduct a Memorial Service at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 15 at the Pocono Mountain Bible Fellowship Church, Trinity Hill Road, Mt. Pocono. There will be a visitation from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service. Bolock Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
