Obituary of Giovanni Mazza

Giovanni "John" Mazza, 71, of Mt. Pocono, died Wednesday, January 31 at Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was the husband of Maria (Abbate) Mazza. Born in Agreginto, Sicily, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Angela (Aquilino) Mazza. John served in the Italian Army before coming to the United States in 1965. He raised his family in Brooklyn, where he worked as a marble and tile layer. He moved to the Poconos after his retirement in 1997. In addition to his wife, Maria, he is survived by two sons; John Mazza and his wife, Vivian of Mt. Pocono and Michael Mazza of Mt. Pocono; three grandchildren, John Andrew, Amanda, and Isabella Mazza all of Mt. Pocono. The Reverend Father Joseph Kopacz will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6 at St. Mary of the Mount Church in Mt. Pocono. Interment will follow at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg. There will be a viewing on Monday, February 5 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 and 390 in Paradise Valley.
