Obituary of John Donohue

John M. Donohue, 71, of Pocono Lake died Wednesday, January 31, at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton. He was the husband of Theresa C. (Mc Kenna) Donohue. Born in Brooklyn, NY on April 4, 1935, he was the son of the late Thomas P. and Mabel (Bracken) Donohue. John moved to the Poconos 15 years ago after retiring from the New York City Police Department, where he worked as a Police Officer. He was a member of the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association in New York City, a former board member of the Arrowhead Lakes Community Association, and a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Pocono Pines. In addition to his wife Theresa, he is survived by three sons: John M. Donohue Jr. and his wife Janet of Long Island, NY, Brian P. Donohue of Florida, and Thomas P. Donohue of Long Island, NY; one daughter: Christina T. Firmin and her husband Paul of Thornhurst; two sisters: Mary Arico and Rita Donohue both of Brooklyn, NY; six grandchildren: Kayla T. Firmin, Amanda E. Firmin, and Jessica M. Firmin all of Thornhurst, Cpl. Sean D. Donohue, stationed in Iraq, Troy Donohue and Steven Donohue, both of Long Island. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas P. Donohue, Jr. and a sister, Patricia C. Donohue. The Reverend Father John Boyle will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 5 at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Pocono Pines. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow. There will be a viewing from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 4 at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley.
