Obituary of Joan Werkheiser

Joan M. Werkheiser, 66, of Swiftwater, died Tuesday, August 9, at Easton Hospital in Easton. She was the wife of Larry Werkheiser. Born in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of George and Theresa (Chernausky) Shimko. Joan was a life-long resident of Monroe County. In addition to her husband, Larry, she is survived by a son, Paul Werkheiser of Lehighton; two brothers, George T. Shimko of Daleville, AL and Don Shimko of Springbrook Twp; three sisters, Frances Yando , Mary Shimko, Katherine Stidham and her husband Gary , all of Pocono Summit; and nieces and nephews, Tina Stidham of Delray, FL, Don, Suzanne, Laura, Dana Marie, Joe, Debbie and Kendra. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Shimko. Funeral services will be private followed by interment at Laurelwood Cemetery.
