Obituary of Edward Fazekas
Edward John Fazekas, 66, of Tobyhanna, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2010 at home. He was the husband of Wendy (Schwartz) Fazekas.
Born in Maple Shade, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Peter Fazekas Jr. and the late Frances (Bush) Fazekas and has been a resident of Tobyhanna, for the past 24 years.
Ed joined the U. S. Air Force at the age of 17 and became an aircraft mechanic crew chief, serving a tour of duty in the Vietnam Conflict. He went on to a skilled and varied career as a machinist in Camden, NJ and Portland, PA, a press floor foreman for Presswell Records and a machinist instructor and training leader at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, earning several commendations for performance along the way. He also worked in cabinet installation and kitchen remodeling and as a one-man maintenance department in a nursing home. Ed achieved numerous certificates in human management, small business, and water systems operation, among others.
He loved teaching and children, serving as a Cub and Boy Scout leader, Camp Minsi Ranger, and taught sixth grade Sunday School for 17 years at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tannersville.
In addition to his wife and best friend, Wendy Fazekas, he is survived by his sister Ruth Rodeffer and brother-in-law, Bob of Cinnaminson, NJ, sister-in-law Phyllis Fazekas of Milford, DE, and 11 nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, November 4 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, Rt. 940 in Cresco, Pa. Burial with military honors will take place on Friday, November 5 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940
