Obituary of Kenneth Hay

Kenneth P. Hay, 83, of St. Petersburg, Florida and formerly of Pocono Summit, passed away on Tuesday, June 30 at Bay Front Medical Center in St. Petersburg. He was the husband of Julia T. (Shimko) Hay. Born in Pocono Summit, he was the son of the late Ralph and Delores (Peechatka) Hay. He attended and graduated from Coolbaugh Elementary and Coolbaugh High School. Before his retirement, Kenneth was employed for many years at Cramer's Cashway Lumber Co. in Pocono Summit. He also served as Fire Chief for the Pocono Summit Fire Co. for many years. He was a member of St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Mt. Pocono and a member of the Lions Club. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Kenneth served during World War II. In addition to his wife, Julia, he is survived by two sons, Preston Hay of Asbury Park, New Jersey and Ralph Hay of St. Petersburg, Florida. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Hay and a sister, Winifred Hay. There will be a viewing on Monday, July 6 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. The Reverend Father Joseph Kopacz will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7 at St. Mary of the Mount Church in Mt. Pocono. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pocono Summit Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 400, Pocono Summit, Pa. 18346
