Obituary of Richard Happe

Richard E. Happe, 83, of Tobyhanna, passed away on July 9, 2009 at Acera Care Hospice in Peckville, Pa. He was the husband of the late Jeanne Happe. Born in New York, New York, he was the son of the late Harry and Jane (Price) Happe. Until his retirement, Richard was employed by the New York Telephone Co. as a repair technician. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Communication Workers of America Local #1101. He was also a member of St. Mary of the Mount Church in Mt. Pocono. A United States Navy veteran during World War II, Richard was stationed in the Pacific on the USS Requisite, a minesweeper acquired for the dangerous task of removing mines from the water. He is survived by a son, Edward Happe and his wife, Linda of Pocono Summit; two daughters, Patricia Bunje and her husband, Val of Tobyhanna, Maureen Webb and her husband, Al of Milford; Six grandchildren, Richard Happe and Kathryn Happe of Pocono Summit, Brian Bunje and his wife, April of Pocono Summit, Shannon Caspole and her husband, Joseph of Camp Lejeune, NC, Dustin Pituch and Neal Pituch of Milford; five great grandchildren, Liam, Abigail, Erin, Connor, and Emily; and several nieces and nephews. There will be viewings on Sunday, July 12 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Monday, July 13 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. T he Reverend Father Joseph Kopacz will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14 at St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Mt. Pocono. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow
