I was so saddened to hear about "Uncle Pete". My fondest memories are of him joining us for cake (he really wasn't supposed to have any sweets...)and coffee after dinner. He was always on the ready for a joke and shared a few of his own too! From his crooked grin to his "hey kid" greeting, I knew that no matter what, I could count on him to be a straight shooter! I enjoyed the stories he told about his visits to Germany - he loved visiting tante Maria's family and wanted to retire there. He also told stories about Jerry Lewis, the comedian, who was a classmate of his at Irvington High, and how Pete would say, "He was a nut case even THEN!" I especially remember how he would come and lend a hand whenever we needed him. Uncle Pete was a true friend, a rare gem. Rest in peace!
