Obituary of Dolores Mary Eversen

Dolores Mary Eversen, 85, of Pocono Pines, died on Friday November 20th, 2015 at Geisinger Hospital in Wyomiong Valley. She was the loving wife of Earl Eversen with whom she had shared 62 years of marriage. Born and raised in Staten Island, NY she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Ellen (Raleigh) Osker. Dolores was a graduate of Port Richmond High School and attended Wagner College. She met her husband when she was 19 years old at Wagner. Together they had five wonderful sons and lived in Staten Island, NY where they were very active within the community and St. Charles Parish. The family later moved to Long Valley, NJ, a placed they loved because it reminded them of home in Staten Island. Dolores was very active in the lives of her children, her family and the church. Our Lady of the Mountain Church in Long Valley was her second home. She was a Eucharistic Minister, President of the Rosary Society and held multiple offices. She was also active on the local school districts PTA. Dolores loved all sports her boys were involved in and attended all of their games. She was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame in South Bend. Her passions were swimming, reading, baking and travel. She also loved playing the piano and singing the old standards. In retirement Dolores and Earl moved to Lake Naomi in Pocono Pines. Here she quickly became active in community where she once again acted as a Eucharistic Minister and cooked for the bereaved. She was active for six years in the aquatic program, twenty years with the book club and ran the Christmas festivities for five years and she loved it all. In addition to her husband Earl, she is survived by her sons, Neil Eversen of Pocono Pines, Eric Eversen and his wife Carol of Long Valley, NJ, Denis Eversen and his wife Sabrina of Chester, NJ, Kevin Eversen and his wife Kristi of Basking Ridge, NJ; sisters, Clare Cavagnaro of Shepherdstown, WV, Lorraine Grimaldi of Poughkeepsie, NY and grandchildren, Kelli, Dan, Kirsten, Kayla, Brennan, Sean and Erin and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Brian. The Reverend Father Sean Carpenter will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 24th at 10:00am at St. Maximilan Kolbe Parish, 5112 Pocono Crest Rd, Pocono Pines, PA 18350. There will be a viewing from 9:00 am until the time of Mass at the church. Interment will be at Our Lady of the Mountain Cemetery in Long Valley NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church at the address listed above. Before her passing, Dolores requested to have her thanks and appreciation shared with Dr. Seth Fisher, Dr. Sylvia Bolock, the Lake Girls, her husband, sons and daughter in laws and sisters.
