Obituary of Maria V. Dean
Maria Vita Dean, 63, of Tobyhanna died peacefully Thursday evening, August 31, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Pocono in East Stroudsburg. Born in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York she was the daughter of the late Euprepio and Julia Bungaro. Maria began working for the City of New York at age 18 where she would meet the love of her life. She was the loving wife of Joseph Michael Dean, Sr. with whom she shared 31 years of marriage. Maria worked for the City of New York over 20 years. Maria and Joseph raised their two children and cherished many loving memories. In addition to her career and raising children, Maria was of the Catholic faith and integral member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church community for over 25 years. She acted as Eucharistic Minister, coordinator of the St. Ann's Youth Choir, and taught religious instruction. Maria displayed a love for God's beauty through her garden at home, which she tended to with great care and pride. Maria also tended to everyone around her with the same great care. Maria was always a helping hand and tended to others with God's love. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and church community.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Joseph M. Dean Jr, his fiancée, Lea Mignosi of Washington D.C. and daughter, Teresa Dean of Brooklyn, New York.
A viewing will be held at Bolock Funeral Home, Monday, September 4, 2017 from 2-5 PM. Reverend Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at St. Ann's Church, 1600 Church Street in Tobyhanna. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
