Obituary of William Dewitsky


William “Boone” Dewitsky, 69 of Pocono Pines, died unexpectedly, on Wednesday, December 6th, 2017 in Tobyhanna.

Born in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Willie Dewitsky and Virginia (Newhart) Dewitsky-Argot.

A proud veteran, he served with the United States Navy during Vietnam. He was a member and volunteer of the American Legion Post #413 in Pocono Pines. An all American man, he had a love of the outdoors, sports and family. He was a hunter, fisherman, a former trainer and member of the Stroudsburg Beagles Club. He was a fan of all the Los Angeles sports teams. Above all, he loved his family. He adored his children and grandchildren and all of the memories he shared with them. He will be remembered for his hard work, laying carpet up until the end and being affectionately known as "The Barefoot Carpet Man".

He is survived by his daughters: Jody, Cassandra and Rebecca Dewitsky; a sister: Darlene Whitmer and her husband Pastor Barry; nephews: Brian and Philip Whitmer; and his grandchildren: Chanel, Jayda, Donyeh, Angelia and Maurice.

The family will host a celebration of life at the American Legion Post #413 in Pocono Lake on Monday, December 11th at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Boone may be made to the American Legion.

Private Cremation has been entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home Crematory.
