Grandma,
We love you. You will be missed, and never forgotten. You have contributed more to our lives than some of us realize. You have fought for a very long time and that strength in itself is admirable. Since I can remember you have been a woman of order and no nonsense. I remember when I was about 10 years old you had me upstairs on Manhattan street cleaning the kitchen ( I hated that, because as soon as I thought I was done you would find the tiniest spec- only something you could see.) Well, there was a spec that I could not get up, and you told me I needed to put some "elbow grease" on it. I immediately stopped what I was doing and I went over to the bottom cabinet. You watched me just as confused as I was and asked me what I was doing. I said, "looking for some elbow grease". You laughed so hard that I began laughing too. To this day anytime I hear the term elbow grease I think of that day and our time together.
As a child I was frustrated at the level of order and organization you lived in-I was not use to it. But as I grew older I learned to appreciate you for it. You always took such good care of all of your things. Everything was valued and appreciated. You knew exactly where everything was. Your church hats perfectly put into there boxes, Your dresses hanging in plastic, and shoes lined neatly. Even your lipsticks and makeup would sit perfectly on your vanity, which was dressed elegantly with a doyly. You would intricately guide any one of us to the tissue that you packed in preparation of any trip- even if it was just to the store :).
Grandma, thank you for all of the birthday cards, the children always new to expect something from you because you had everything written down. Thank you for calling and keeping me encouraged in the Lord. Thank you for embracing myself, my husband, and our children. I thank God for the moments we have had together, and the wisdom that you have shared.
Rest in Heavenly Peace Grandma- Upstairs
With Love Forever
